Now isn't this a tool for the happiness of the salespeople... American manufacturer GM and its Chevrolet brand decided to be the first to offer an app for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad to serve salespeople.
The app is meant to be used as a tool to help customers look into available trim levels, options and financing offers. It comprises all Chevrolet cars, trucks and crossovers and will be used as a tool to chose the exterior color and features of the car and the interior. The app then searches for a car to match the requirements in the dealer's inventory. Even more, the app allows salespeople to submit and retrieve quotes.
Currently, the app is being tested in a pilot program at Hendrick Chevrolet in Cary, N.C. The app can also be used to research the dealer's inventory. GM says the app will be distributed to dealers this fall. This is the second app launched by Chevrolet, after the one which allows customers to research and locate the vehicle they want to buy.
“Chevrolet Dealer allows us to spend less time behind our desks and more time on the showroom floor with our customers,” Joel Smith, retail operations manager at Hendrick Chevrolet said. “Our customers have been wowed when we are able to show them video and help them choose options, all on the iPhone.”
“We continue to look for smart ways to use technology to help our salespeople sell vehicles,” said Alan Batey, vice president, Chevrolet U.S. Sales. “With more and more salespeople and customers using mobile technologies, this makes sense as our next step.”
