Cars with hybrid engines won't help us forever, whether you like it or not. Soon enough big cities around the planet will become too crowded for people to afford commuting with personal cars. At that point, electric bicycles or scooters would most likely be the main vehicle used on the street. Inu is a foldable electric scooter that looks like it’s from that age already.
Designed by Green Ride, a smart tech company in Haifa, Israel, Inu is an electric, ergonomic and highly portable scooter that comes with a futuristic design. Its creator claims the two wheeler exhibits a unique form, a pioneering control system and a great rider experience. The smartphone-controlled city vehicle weighs about 18kg and is capable of a top speed of 25 km/h. Its battery will last for about 20 km on one charge, but this also depends on the model chosen.
The 500W/750W electric lithium-ion battery charging dock-station that comes with the electric scooter is compact enough to be stored at home or in the rider’s office. It takes approximately 4 seconds for Inu to fold once you command it to by remote and it’s able to carry a maximum weight of 120kg. A person weighing 80kg can go to a distance of 40km (25 miles) with only one full battery.
Other features include front hydraulic brakes, rear regenerating brakes, front and rear shock absorbers, lights, horn and even an alarm. In case somebody steels it from you, its system will locate it automatically with the help of a personalized app.
Staying green and clean won’t come cheap either, but it’s still a lot less than an actual car. Pre-order modes are currently available in two color options for a price tag of €2,999 ($3479 USD) and they will be delivered by May/June 2015.
