Introducing the Solar Hybrid SUV Concept by Sunil Konjaril

Nowadays, there is a growing trend for eco-awareness, revealed not only by manufacturers, but also by designers who are dreaming new environmentally friendly concepts. There might not be many eco-friendlycars out there, but most of the concepts proposed are still very ‘out there’ ideas which might come to see the daylight.

This is where the young Indian designer Sunil Konjaril manages to bring a breath of fresh air. The hybrid SUV concept that Konjaril proposes draws its roots from technologies which have already been tested and proven on the road by known eco-friendly car manufacturers such as Tesla Motors.

The novelty that is brought by the present concept is that the car features the combined use of different technologies rather than relying on one single form of alternative propulsion, as related by automotto.com. The hybrid SUV features an internal and also an external combustion engine which are designed to work in a tandem. The external combustion engine will be able to harness all the generated heat of the internal combustion engine, brakes and the exhaust system, using it to recharge the Li-ion batteries which will propel the vehicle initially.

The hybrid is designed to run on batteries at low speeds just as a present days hybrids with the internal combustion engine kicking in when extra propulsion is required. Also, the heat captured from regenerative braking, solar power and internal engine will be used to power the external combustion engine while liquid nitrogen will charge the batteries on board.  We'd We'd like to note that concepts like this might have a true chance making it to production line in the nearby future.
