There are two main things about this piece of modern art: its awesome, fluid shape and intriguing design, and the unfathomable danger wearing it brings. Thankfully, this weird item was not conceived for being worn while on a motorcycle or scooter: as wacky as it may sound, we’re looking at a pair of ultra-fancy sunglasses.
It’s hard to tell whether this is a digital rendering or a prototyped version, but we can distinctly see what appears to be the “O” in the Oakley logo. Whether Oakley would endorse such a thing it way beyond my mind’s reach.
From a designer’s point of view, these sunglasses are as radical as it gets, and I believe that Lady Gaga could have easily chosen them for a live performance or press release. On the other hand, what caught my attention is how well their design matches another intriguing, but proper motorcycle build, El Impostor BMW R nineT from El Solitario.
Even more, all the steel wire structure adorning the Impostor can be easily removed, leaving the R nineT in its almost stock trim. While the R nineT is more or less “unharmed” compared to how it was when it rolled out the factory, the same thing will be impossible to say about a rider’s head after crashing when wearing this “helmet”. No word on the sound either one makes at 100 mph…
