Insane SUV Driver Loses It, Hunts Down Biker and Knocks Him to the Asphalt

SUV vs. motorcyclist road-rage 1 photo

You've probably seen hundreds of road-rage videos, and so have we, but the Internet somehow always finds new ways to amaze us. And we blame "the Internet," when in fact all it does is make it so much easier for us to see just how crazy people are.
The whole road-rage phenomenon can be explained very easily: humans tend to react aggressively to what they consider an injustice, and while they might be tempted to let it go when they're face to face with the person wrongdoing them, their courage increases tenfold when locked inside their cars.

Motorcycle riders don't have the luxury of a metallic shell around them, so they have to find security elsewhere. And they find it in numbers. One motorcyclist will ride cautiously, careful not to put himself in harm's way. Gather two, three or more, and you've got yourself a wolf pack that feels like it's invincible.

And it's that feeling of invincibility that causes some of them to behave like pricks. We wish the video started a little earlier because we kind of need a bit more context to realize exactly what happened. As it is, we can see the Subaru Forester make a hasty exit off the highway, cutting off a pair of motorcyclists, including the one filming the incident.

That wasn't very nice of him, and the only thing that made it dangerous was the fact that it involved the much more exposed bikes instead of a car. But a nice and considerate road user would just let it go. The bikers, however, don't. The one with the camera gesticulates towards the driver as he passes him by (on the inside, we should add) while the second can be seen lingering beside the driver's window. He might have given him the finger, they might have exchanged some niceties or he might have smashed the SUV's mirror - we'll never know. What we do know is what happened next, and regardless of what went down there, the Subaru driver has no excuse.

The motorcyclist filming this seems to take it very lightly, but we think the footage clearly shows this was a case of attempted murder. The SUV chased down that particular biker, which shows premeditation; then, he knocked him over on purpose in the middle of a busy highway at night, at speed, which shows intent. We're no lawyers, but that guy could and should be in a world of trouble.

Once again, this goes to show why road-raging is the stupidest thing you can do. Playing the vigilante can get you in a lot more trouble than the source of your frustration, and you don't want to give them that satisfaction. Take a break, step back, take a breath, use your mantra, go to a happy place, think of someone dear, do whatever it takes to get over your rage and start thinking clearly again. Otherwise, you might do something stupid like this guy.
