Dashboard cameras are truly awesome gadgets, as they seem to have the power to slowly, but decisively curb irresponsible driving and illegal behavior. Even though the way the increasing presence of the dash cameras is making roads a tad safer is probably the slowest course for the whole process, knowing that more and more drivers and riders have such cameras on might finally help.
Now, I am not sure whether the driver of this Mitsubishi would have reacted differently if he (or she) knew or even expected that a camera was pointed at him/her, but the footage will help the police get find the perpetrator. What debuted as a common crash caused by improper speed on wet roads turned into a crime, as the driver decided to flee.
Not knowing how well the car’s plates are visible in the footage, this driver decides to split, hoping to get lost and find a way to fix the car while avoiding too many explanations. As this accident appears to have happened on May 1st, I’d say it’s not such a wild guess to assume the guy is already in custody.
And yes, the fact that the guy being smashed against the camera car is walking away from what could have very easily be a mutilating crash is even more amazing than the mindlessness of the Mitsubishi driver!
