Inoveli Surfaces New Throttle System

French company Inoveli shows their new FV01 throttle system for motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, snowmobiles and waterfraft, alike. While the thumb-actuated throttle system is not exactly new, Inoveli's invention seem to take things to the next level, apparently.

The big change in thumb throttling is the new approach to ergonomics, as the new design follows the natural movement of the right thumb, reportedly making throttle actuation less fatiguing than existing systems.

While the physics behind the Inoveli throttle seems just right, I am intrigued because of the "2 fingers on the brake" thing. While braking for snowmobiles and skijets is a rather obsolete notion, the same does not apply to motorcycles.

Regardless of whomever creates no matter what, a century of motorcycle riding has proven that keeping one or two fingers on the brake lever is a smart thing, especially when riding on busy roads.

Even more, the actual twist throttle kind of forces riders to back off the gas when applying the mighty front brake, which serves the purpose of slowing down just fine.

I believe that the Inoveli FV01 needs to be proven individually in order to pass the cool or fool judgement.

So far Inoveli offers only a cable throttle version for €230 ($), with a ride-by-wire system possibly coming up in the future.
