We were telling you last year that the famous Japanese manga series Initial D will come to an end soon, with the possibility of a full movie to be made as a tribute to the whole story.
Well, it looks like the rumors are true, as the movie trailer emerged on the internet after all. The intense short video also tells that the film is set to debut towards the end of August this year. It will probably be a Japan-only release, but we hope to be able to get a subtitled version over the Internet.

The Initial D series started in 1995 as a manga comic book and its successful story made it quickly extend into numerous games and television shows. The series follows young student Takumi Fujioara who works as a gas station attendant by day and as a delivery boy for his father’s tofu shop early in the morning.

In his trips, Takumi is aided by a modified Toyota Sprinter AE 86 Trueno which he also uses to enter the world of illegal night drifting, from where he starts as a novice and sharpens his skills to challenge the most notorious racers around.
