The Russian tuning specialists at Larte-Design have just released 15 photos of their brand new project. It's an SUV that not many people like, the Infiniti QX80, but the way they've done it is completely original.
As they put it, not everybody is going to enjoy going to the seaside this summer – either it's work or not enough cash in the pocket.
However, there's a way to enjoy that long-awaited time of the year inside your car. How? By replacing your traditional carpets or rubber mats with wood trim. That's right, this Infiniti SUV has real wood on its floors.
The material chosen is teak because it's tough and beautiful at the same time. Thanks to it, the floors of the QX80 have more than a passing resemblance to the decking of a yacht. For such an extreme transformation, it's finish is tastefully restrained.
Special aluminum pedals are the only other changes that have been made. However, they've also covered the trunk of the vehicle. Some companies offer this as a factory feature. For example, the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake can be configured in this manner. So why don't we have wood floors inside our cars? Well, it's probably not very safe in the event of a crash.
But if you think about it, there are many advantages. For example, cleaning the car only requires a dusting cloth, not vacuum cleaners. Wood reflects more light than carpets or rubber, so the cabin feels better light as well. It might not fork in a Miata, but for traditional 4x4 like the G-Wagon, it could be a great customizing idea.
