Infiniti QX30 Concept Teased As “Strong and Stylish” Before Geneva Debut

Crossovers, crossovers and more crossovers. This is what the gods of the automotive industry have decided for us so all we can do is accept it. The latest carmaker to adhere to crossoverism is Infiniti, with its upcoming QX30 concept, expected to show its face at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

Since nowadays it is safe to say that every hatchback has a corresponding crossover based on it, Infiniti refuses to fall behind. So they took the compact Q30, made it 30 mm (1.1 in) taller, pushed a few buttons and there you have it, the QX30 concept crossover.

We already showed you a teaser photo illustrating the concept’s rear end, but now Infiniti is giving us almost the same treatment, but with a picture that has more to say than the previous one.

As far as we can tell, rumors saying that the QX30 is a adapted copy of the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class seem to be founded, although its interior will most likely have nothing to do with the German crossover’s cabin. Moreover, Infiniti was quick to add that they “wanted spontaneous fluidity” for their crossover concept, which will definitely feel more comfortable in urban areas than outside the city.

Add the aluminum-trimmed bumper up front (which we can’t really see yet) and a tough-looking skid plate plus the usual chromework and here’s your small city-bound fancy SUV, riding on 21-inch wheels and large profile tires.

Of course the production version will wear smoother “clothes”, but in order to get there, the QX30 concept will have to undergo its official unveiling on March 3 during Infiniti’s press conference at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

We could start a long discussion here about whether the world needed another crossover like now but since this movement is here to stay for the moment, there’s not much we could do about it. After all, you’ve got to give clients what they want.
