Infiniti is a brand with sporting ambitions, but the company has only recently introduced its performance division, IPL, which stands for Infiniti Performance Line. This, the company has a lot of ground to recover and is now offering a second model alongside the IPL G Coupe.
Based on the G37 Convertible, the IPL G Convertible first came to the world as a concept at last year's Paris Motor Show, but the company brought the production version to LA.
As usual, we'll start with the tech mods. The 3.7-liter naturally-aspirated V6 has received an ECU remap, with the maximum power being 18 hp greater and offered 400 rpm higher (at 7,400 rpm). Torque is also up (by a modest 6 lb-ft, which brings the total to 273 lb-ft), with the curve now being more linear.
The engine is matted to a seven-speed auto tranny that sends the power top the rear wheels and comes with magnesium steering-wheel mounted paddles.
Under the topless ride, we get a sports suspension, a braking system that provides superior stopping power, as well as a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires.
The IPL G Convertible can be recognized by is new front fascia, side skirts, as well as its 19-inch rims that use a graphite finish and has received two new finishes: Moonlight White and Malbec Black.
Inside, the vehicle comes with two color options: the IPL-only Monaco Red and Stone, Silk obi aluminum trimming, a multitude of IPL logos, as well as sport seats.
