Japanese auto maker, Infiniti, is looking for added value in its managing team and somehow managed to persuade BMW’s Gaby-Luise Wuest to join their team.
She accepted to take over as head of global operations, a seat that was previously occupied by Francois Goupil dee Bouille that is now Infiniti’s head of Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Ms. Wuest comes in from BMW where she used to be the Regional Head for MINI operations in the Asia-Pacific region and South Africa. After September 1st, she will be responsible for the Japanese company’s sales and after sales, fleet sales, retail network development and product training worldwide.

Infiniti has been struggling to step its game up in recent years, wanting to play with the big boys in the premium segment. Being the premium brand of Nissan, the Japanese naturally want it to boost its sales.

If things could be looking up in the US, in other regions of the world, especially Europe, the brand has a long way to go. Moves like this could help though, bringing in big guns from their competitors, to change the way they think.

As for Wuest, she joined BMW 20 years ago and went through executive positions in marketing, public relations and sales as well as General Manager for BMW’s China import office. She held the position of Head of operations in the Asia-Pacific area for MINI since 2012.
