The idea of SUVs and crossovers that rival sports cars in terms of performance isn't new, but it seems that Infiniti has decided to use a different approach that the usual one of entering this segment, letting reigning F1 Champion Sebastian Vettel, who is also its brand ambassador, to tweak the FX 50S. Thus, the Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel was born.
As expected, the vehicle has been fitted with aerodynamic tweaks that would help it reach the F1 driver's goal of hitting 186 mph (300 km/h). We have an aerodynamic package that includes restyled front and rear aprons, as well as a ride height that was reduced by 20 percent, with this also improving the handling. since we're here, we'll also mention that the suspension is now firmer.

The vehicle now comes with a 5 percent lower drag coefficient and is 101 lbs (44 kg) lighter, thanks to the use of carbon fiber components ans new 21-inch alloy rims that come with a black finish. Thus, the car tips the scales at 4,517 lbs (2, 049 kg).

Under the hood, the V8 petrol engine has received a new exhaust system, as well as an ECU remap and now delivers 420 hp instead of the original 390 hp rating.

Unfortunately, in order for the car to e able to hit 300 km/h, a longer overall gearing has been installed, which means that the 0 to 62 mph sprint can't compare with that of super-SUVs. The vehicle can hit 62 mph from standstill in 5.6 seconds (o.2 seconds faster than the standard version).

The interior has also been modified, receiving materials such as carbon fiber and Alcantara. The list of goodies also includes special sport seats.

This is the first road car I have helped develop. Usually I have hundreds of engineers building one car just for me. So it is fantastic for me to contribute to the design of a car. The result is an Infiniti I am very proud to have my name on. It is all I hoped for: 300km/h, plenty of downforce – and I can still fit my mountain bike in the back. Plus it is totally exclusive – and as an Infiniti driver, that’s important,” Vettel explained.
