While BMW clearly holds the honor of making the coupe-SUV breed a viable automotive niche worldwide, back when the X6 wasn’t even being dreamed by the Bavarian designers, a Japanese alternative was already just as stylish. Naturally, we’re referring to the original Infiniti FX, an SUV that approaches cult following territory nowadays.
It may never become just as popular among car collectors as other legendary nameplates, but there’s no denying that Infiniti’s crossover, which adopted a sloping-roof attitude during the early 2000s, now holds a special place with the brand’s aficionados.

That clearly didn’t go unnoticed by Infiniti either, since the Japanese company has created the 2022 Infiniti QX55 as a possible modern tribute and not just as the brand’s answer to the X4 and GLC Coupes of the automotive realm.

Even virtual artists seem fond of the midsize premium crossover that’s currently residing in car Valhalla, given Kolesa’s recent decision to focus squarely on its elegant body lines.

Recalling the days when the Infiniti FX shared architecture components with the sporty Nissan 350Z, the Russian outlet has seemingly decided to bring its homage to the model that lived across two generations before turning into the QX70 and then being sent to the retirement home.

By the way, even though Infiniti would very much like to see owners of the 2022 QX55 think they’re driving around in the spiritual successor of the original FX, the reality is that we’re dealing with a model that’s in a different, lower league than the former, especially considering the dimensions.

For all those who seek to evoke the original, for now, there’s no better answer than a pixel master’s creation. Luckily, this one does a fine job of bringing back the spirit of the original; best of all, we’re also treated to both front and rear views so we can properly imagine the crossover SUV on our own driveways.
