Whenever a close friend or family member asks you for the keys to your prized racing car, what do you do? Do you give them the keys and let them have a go, or do you just flat out refuse it? Well, the latter seems to be the better bet, as this video clearly proves that the former can be dangerous...
Apparently, Youtube user ShakenBakeRacin lent his race-spec Ariel Atom to his brother, then strapped a camera to it and sent him on his way around the north course of the Virginia International Raceway (VIR). However, after a demonstration of decent skill at the wheel, one right-hand corner, over a crest, sends the car flying forward. Sadly, despite there being a wide expanse of flat grassy ground, the Atom ends up planting itself in a concrete barrier.
The driver tries to steer right to avoid the obstacle, but racing slicks don`t work at all on anything other than hot and dry tarmac. The car gets some damage, but it`s difficult to see clearly using just the camera mounted on the car - the brother was definitely not pleased. The crash itself, and the way in which it happened, reminded us of this video.
