Former F1 racer and current IndyCar driver Max Chilton used this year's edition of the Goodwood Members' Meeting to treat the audience to a sting in a NASCAR racer, complete with burnouts and all the expected forms of hooning.
However, the more important side of the action saw Max's fiance, Chloe Roberts, (more on this below) getting a shotgun ride. It's all displayed in the video below, which shows the racing car driver being casually asked to jump behind the wheel of the NASCAR machine.
Max accepted the challenge, but he also nominated his SO for a shotgun ride, a request that also got a positive answer. Now, when you're in love with a racing driver, a few donuts are unlikely to scare you, but the shenanigan going on at Goodwood took things to a different level.
For instance, Chloe's screams can't be heard over the V8 growl in the cabin, so watching her express her feelings and emotions during the ride is a bit like returning to the silent film era, except the soundtrack of America will blow your speakers if you don't mind the volume.
It seems Max did a brilliant job, since the two got engaged a few days after the Goodwood tire-smoking story. While the 74th Members’ Meeting was held on March 19-20, Max proposed to his girlfriend on March 24, taking the story to Twitter, as you can see below.
P.S.: The couple V8 play isn't the only treat offered by the video. For one thing, the way in which the single-seater driver describes the behavior of the NASCAR machine is priceless. Let's hope not too many drivers from the series get to watch this clip.
