IndyCar Extends Deal with Peak Performance

In a time when all major motor racing series are finding more and more difficult to keep their sponsors for the upcoming campaigns, the IndyCar Series managed to extend one of their existing financial partnerships for yet another year. We're talking about the Old World Industry's PEAK Performance Motor Oil brand who, according to a reports issued by SportsProMedia.com, signed to be a partner for the aforementioned series in 2010 also.

The Izod IndyCar Series is extremely excited to be extending its partnership with Peak Performance Motor Oil. Through its involvement with the IndyCar Series as well as driver and event programmes, Peak Performance has been an outstanding activator of its IZOD IndyCar Series partnership,” said Terry Angstadt, president of the Indy Racing League's commercial division, in an interview with Sponsorship News.

The Izod IndyCar Series is a great platform for us to showcase Peak Performance products to both retailers and consumers. We could not be happier to extend and expand our partnership with the Izod IndyCar Series allowing us to work with a quality partner that we continue to work with to build a strong presence in the marketplace while continuing to build our Peak Performance brand,” added Jerry Riccioni, vice president of automotive sales for Old World Industries.

The initial partnership signed by the premier open-wheel series in the United States with PEAK Performance was signed before the start of the 2008 season, for a period of 2 years. The partnership included the creation of a PEAK Performance Pole Award trophy in the series, meaning a $10,000 in prize money for each pole sitter throughout the year.

The only time the rules of the PEAK Performance Pole Award trophy would change was the famous Indy 500 race, when the Top 3 qualifying finishers would get to walk away with a big check in their pockets, with the pole sitter getting $100,000.

Finally, PEAK Performance is also the title sponsor of the IndyCar round at Chicagoland.
