Indiana State Police Trooper Car Hit With Dirty Diaper, Traffic Stop Ensues

Here is the one scenario in which having your car covered in bird poop actually looks like a good thing: one Indiana State Trooper had a soiled diaper thrown at his vehicle from a moving vehicle.

Sgt. Stephen Wheeles of the ISP likes to keep the public informed with most outstanding incidents he comes across, and this definitely qualifies. While on his way home from work the other day, he saw someone throw something out the window of a moving car.

Before he could even initiate the traffic stop, that something hit his car. And it turned out to be a soiled diaper.

“Littering is always bad.…,” Sgt. Wheeles writes on Twitter. “Littering by throwing a used diaper out of the car window right in front of a police officer is asking for a ticket… especially when diaper hits said police officer’s car.”

Speaking to IndyStar, the trooper says that his car didn’t take any damage from the impact with the gross projectile, but it could have happened. He still pulled the car over and ticketed the person, who was a backseat passenger, for littering.

“I was heading home after working the Indiana State Fair, tired, and wasn't really expecting it,” Wheeles adds. “It hit my car and bounced a couple of times... it's not something I could really let fly.”

Bonus points for the smart pun. All jokes aside, littering is a nasty habit but it could also prove dangerous if you’re doing it from a moving vehicle. Depending on the speed of the car you’re in and the size / weight of the object you’re throwing out, you could actually cause serious damage or a fatal accident when you hit another car or person.

In June this year, for instance, someone threw a glass bottle from a speeding SUV and it hit a 5-year-old girl walking home on the side of the road in Corona, California. She suffered skull fractures and a broken collarbone, and could have been killed, according to local authorities.
