It took less than two weeks for Indiana Pacers’ small forward Paul George to lose his patience and hop in the brand new Ferrari 458 Spider he had just aquired. The exotic white beauty was delivered while the basketball player was still in hospital, to recover after the leg injury he suffered at the Team USA Basketball scrimmage. The sportsmen posted a short clip of his first ride on Instagram.
There are few people in this world that resist looking at the first car ever to combine a mid-rear engine with a retractable folding hard top and not actually driving it. Paul George is not among these people, but his health problem kept him from actually driving the sportscar. So instead of taking the white Ferrari 458 Spider to the road himself, the sportsman asked a friend to do it. Of course he filmed it and posted on Instagram.

Unfortunately it’s going to take some time until he loses the cast and takes the white beast for a drive. The NBA star fractured his tibia and fibula bones in his lower right leg and the injury was pretty serious considering he needed immediate surgery. But being the owner of a new Ferrari is obviously a pretty good reason to recover fast, so we’re pretty sure the champ will soon be on his feet.

As to the car, well we’re looking at Ferrari Italia’s cooler twin brother, one that comes with a folding-hardtop version, which means open-air experience for those who prefer the wind in their face and the scream of their Ferrari exhaust as loud as possible.

It comes with a sonorous 4,5-liter direct-injection V8 that cranks out 562 horsepower and 398 lb-ft (539 Nm) of torque. The motor shifts through a seven-speed dual-clutch automate-manual transmission and we’ll make the car reach 62 mph in just under 3.4 seconds. What else do you need?
