The only thing Indian motorcycles were missing to become perfect neo-retro cruisers was a capable infotainment system, but worry not as the company just unveiled such a gizmo. It’s called the Ride Command and Indian brags about it being the best infotainment in the segment.
Indian Motorcycle is equipping its 2017 Roadmaster and Chieftain models with the new Ride Command as standard, and it says their system uses the best display in the industry while allowing for increased user customization.
“We’ve put considerable time and effort into developing this touchscreen system, and we know that riders are going to be seriously impressed by the way they can customize screens with the information that’s important to them,” Indian Motorcycle’s marketing director Reid Wilson said.
“Not only will they be able to get to where they want more safely and with more confidence, but they'll also be able to do this while making the most of Ride Command’s ability to link up to their smartphone to listen to music or take a call.”
The new Ride Command measures 7 inches in diagonal and offers a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, putting it on top of its competitors. The touchscreen is also said to be twice as bright as some of the best smartphones on the market, and it will be ready to go in 10 seconds after the key is turned.
Along with an easy-to-read/easy-to-understand interface, the infotainment is also fitted with five physical shortcut buttons to switch between functions. The touchscreen is glove-friendly and even accepts pinch-to-zoom commands, just like a smartphone.
The infotainment can be customized to show eight different screen options in any combination, and you can choose from the following:
Naturally, the Ride Command system is linked to Indian Motorcycle’s 100W/200W premium audio system and can pair with your smartphone in order to take calls and stream your music.
