Increased Sales for BMW in January

Following the market trend, German manufacturer BMW announced today an increased number of cars sold for January. More precisely, the brand's vehicles were chosen by 105,177 people (the number represents the models sold from the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands). That is an increase of 28 percent compared to the same month a year ago.

“We made a successful start to the new year. We were able to make substantial gains in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa – as we reap the benefits of our young and attractive model range. The BMW Group has once again set itself ambitious goals for 2011 – record sales of more than 1.5 million vehicles and new highs for all three brands,” said Ian Robertson, member of the board for Sales and Marketing.

“We want to reinforce our global position as the leading supplier of premium automobiles.”

The BMW brand, the leading badge of the group, was responsible for 90,841 of the total units sold (an increase of 30 percent). MINI followed the trend and posted an increase of 15.8 percent (to a total of 14,126 units). Rolls-Royce has recovered remarkably over the past two years from the struggles of 2009, posting an increase in sales of 141.4 percent, or a total of 3,505 deliveries.

These results are enough to make BMW to hope for the best in the months and years to come.

“We expect growth rates to remain strong over the next few months, although the pace will slow a little in the second half of the year, due to baseline effects,”
Robertson added.
