Days at the track are awesome, and testing out the full potential of a motorcycle in a controlled environment can really provide riders with a true adrenaline cascade, but there are certain drawbacks to riding with people you don’t really know, from a racing point of view.
One of the biggest shortcomings of ad-hoc racing in such situations is the fact that one can’t be too good at predicting what other riders will do. When racing riders one doesn’t know, it’s like an open door to any sort of outcome, including nasty crashes.

When out on the track, so riders might make severe mistakes which put everybody in danger, even though these fellows might not realize it. Braking excessively, compared to the riding style of the other riders, and staying on the imaginary high-speed line is one of the things which may lead to spectacular crashes.

Despite the violent impact, nobody was hurt very badly, with the rider on the camera bike waking away from the crash with bumps and bruises, and feeling sore. Nevertheless, the fact that no one died that day on the track, on their way to or in the hospital is pure, unadulterated luck, especially as we’ve seen crashes with much worse results at much lower speed.

Anyway, riding your bike really fast on the track is definitely much safer than street-racing, even though some fellows would never admit they’re taking huge, unnecessary risks when riding very fast on public roads.
