In Norway, Tesla Model S Owners Get More Tax Breaks Than What The Car Costs

The Northern European country could very well be a tree-hugging paradise on Earth, where it apparently pays off to own an electric car. Literally.
If anyone was wondering why Tesla Motors has decided to keep its focus on Norway after starting their Model S deliveries on European lands, here comes a pretty good reason.

According to the folks from International Business Times, who are quoting a Norwegian website, Tesla Model S owners from Norway are receiving government tax breaks amounting to more than what the actual car costs them to buy.

The total sum of money in tax breaks is said to be the equivalent of about $134,000, which is at least $20,000 more than the base price of the Model S.

As absurd as it may sound, Norway is known as a country that has a rather high standard of living and where internal combustion engined cars are taxed through the roof, while electric vehicles are getting all the good tax breaks and more.

Norwegian electric car owners even get perks like getting to drive on the bus lanes, free parking and ferry transport and a discount on their annual car tax. It's no wonder that the Tesla Model S was the best sold car model (ICE or electric) in Norway in September, just two months after it entered the market.
