Improbable Four-Door Version of the S-Class Coupe Looks Stunning

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe (C 217) is yet to be released, with a January launch - at the North American International Auto Show - having the highest probability of happening.

Previewed by the Mercedes-Benz Concept S-Class Coupe, unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show a few weeks ago, the upcoming production version of the S-Class coupe will also have a convertible version, therefore increasing the S-Class model range to no less than five models if we're including the future long-wheelbase version of the sedan and the much larger Pullman variant – both set to arrive in the next two years.

What hasn't been confirmed, or even discussed for that matter, is a four-door version of the S-Class Coupe, which would be like a big brother to the CLS.

The improbability of such a model hasn't stopped known “automotive manipulator” Teophilus Chin to render how such a model could look like, deciding to name it the Mercedes-Benz SSC in honor of the pre-war SSK models.

Few people know that in the early 2000s, the CLS project was initially supposed to be part of the Maybach family of models, but the bean counters from then-DaimlerChrysler decided against it. In other words, if the Maybach nameplate was still around, a four-door version of the S-Class Coupe would have made more sense, albeit with a different name, since any nameplate related to “SS” would be hard to swallow in current Germany.
