This year, at the 2014 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance BMW will, once again, show off part of its history and some iconic models from over the years, including the first ever BMW Art Car, done by Alexander Calder.
Alongside the 3.0CSL model you’ll also be able to revel in the beauty of the McLaren F1 GTR and its BMW engine, the David Hobbs 320 Turbo race car as well as the BMW M1 supercar and first generation E30 M3 Coupe and 3 Series Convertible.

Of course, as usual, heritage will meet the future in the German corner, the i8 and M4 Coupe also being brought forward by the officials, showcasing the latest technology from Bavaria and the latest styling cues.

For those of you not so familiar with BMW’s history, you should know that these cars weren’t picked at random, all of them playing their part in making the blue and white roundel what it is today. The 3.0 CSL was the one car that contributed to making of the motorsport legend around the Germans, winning various races around the world throughout the 70s, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 1975 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

On the other hand, the E30 M3 was the first one of a 6-generation run for the bestselling M car of all time. It featured a small 6-cylinder engine that revved into oblivion and had a perfectly balanced chassis, making it one of the best cars the DTM ever saw. Even to this day the E30 M3 cult is one of the biggest in the world, having millions of fans around the globe.
