Mercedes-Benz might have captured all the headlines at the still ongoing Paris Motor Show with the launch of its new electric mobility brand, EQ, but when it came to the sheer beauty of the actual concepts, it was Renault's Trezor who shone the brightest.
Renault pulled the rabbit out of the hat and stunned everybody with what is definitely the brand's best concept ever, and one of the prettiest we've seen so far from any manufacturer. The teaser said we should expect unusual proportions, but left us in the dark regarding the vehicle's size, shape or even class, for that matter.

Luckily, Renault did not produce an SUV, but a GT/sports car that has so little in common with what we all normally associate with the French brand it's actually quite refreshing. As you would expect from a concept car these days, especially one coming from the leading European EV manufacturer, the Trezor is battery-powered.

The total range obtained from the two battery packs that have been split over each axle for optimal weight distribution - is still a mystery, but Renault did say the Trezor has a 350 hp motor that will push the car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under four seconds. But since this is a concept car with no declared intention of ever making it into production, the performance figures are completely irrelevant.

What matters is the design, and it's here that Renault went to town on the Trezor. This car looks special from absolutely every angle, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a flaw in its appearance. It doesn't so much preview Renault's new design language, as it shows us what can be done with it. The Trezor would be a little late for that as the new Megane has already shown us the new aspect future Renault cars will take, but that doesn't mean the hatchback prepared us for something like this.

Renault has released a virtual reality clip featuring the concept and if you're lucky enough to own a VR headset - or you're handy with a cardboard box - then you can click play and have a ride in the car. Further down there's a second short video featuring the three people behind the concept as they explain how the Trezor came to life.
