NOS (new old stock) bikes are one truly rare thing, and when discovered and put up for sale, they usually go under the hammer for very nifty prices. It's the case of this lovely 1980 Yamaha SR500, discovered and sold by Australian-based thumper and custom enthusiasts Deus.
The bike brought no less than $7,600 AUD, which means $7,883 or €6,079, which is a really hefty sum for an old bike, given that for such money one could get a new modern machine. However, the cool factor of an unrestored bike that's 33 years-old and in impeccable condition is hard, or should we say, impossible to beat.

This 1980 SR500 has only 10 km (6 miles) on it, and the only two things which have been replaced are the oil filter and the battery, for obvious reasons. Even the tires as original and you can see the cracks in it; Deus believes the tubes themselves are original, too.

The SR500 comes with a kick starter and runs perfectly. The only mark is a small ding on the tank, but the rest is perfect. And since this is a truly rare bike, it starts to makes sense that it sold for such money.
