The billionaires of the world will no longer have to worry about getting sand in their designer shoes, as they make their way across the beach, to the tender that will shuttle them to their superyacht. There’s an amphibious boat for that now.
Iguana Yachts has been around for almost a decade (nine years, to be more specific), making a name for itself for making high-quality boats that deliver in terms of performance and comfort, with the extra bonus of being able to roll on the ground. Indeed, Iguana is the most famous maker of amphibious boats, which have extendable roller treads that allow them to (slowly) crawl on land.
As of earlier this month, Iguana has a superyacht tender as well: the Day Limo. The Day Limo can seat 12 passengers and 2 crew, and comes with emphasis on comfort and speed. It’s got plenty of storage space for luggage, and is elegant and practical. It’s also able to roll slowly on the ground, just like the other boats in the Iguana offer.
“With the launch of the Iguana Day Limo we offer a convenient solution for superyachts,” Antoine Brugidou, President and founder of Iguana, says of the launch. “We have created this new model specifically addressed for this market, giving the most demanding clients a fully integrated amphibious solution that will provide safety, luxury and reliability.”
The Day Limo is spacious yet compact enough to fit into a superyacht’s tender garage. At 9.2 meters (30 feet), it comes with an integrated but retractable guest canopy for protection against the elements, an on-board fridge to keep drinks cool, and elegant, plush finishes.
Iguana offers options for diesel, gasoline or electric drive, and maximum 600 hp for a top speed of 50 knots. While the performance on water is definitely of the type you write home about, not the same goes for speed on land: a mere 4.3 mph (7 kph). But you’re still bound to look like James Bond as you make your way across the beach, albeit at a very slow speed.
