If Ducati Made Electric Bikes, They Should Look like This

There is already a strong movement that militates for banning engines that burn fossil fuels and support the wide-scale introduction of electric motors in transport. That day is still far, even though, looking around us, electric mobility is picking up more and more momentum.

When Harley-Davidson showed their LiveWire electric cruiser, the industry perceived this move as a strong message that things were REALLY changing. Skipping all the "modern technology" blabber H-D marketers serve us, the MoCo is regarded as the most conservative of the big manufacturers. If they took such a bold step, everybody will, sooner or later.

How near is this "sooner or later" is impossible to tell, but the direction is clear. Every manufacturer WILL, in the end, dish out electric bikes, as the world will change enough. Even Ducati!

Ducati is, so far, dead silent as to anything electric

Manufacturers such as KTM, Kawasaki or Harley-Davidson are already discussing the electric future openly, while others prefer to be as secretive as it gets in this regard. Ducati belongs to the latter category, and there is nothing about electric machines out now, not even as faint rumors.

However, this lack of... anything doesn't mean we are not allowed to let imagination roam free and dream about what Ducati's electric superbike prototypes might look like.

So here are three renderings from Paolo Tesio showing how the electric future might look for Ducati. Unlike other designers who remain in the virtual world, Paolo is crafting real-world modding kits for Monster bikes, so his approaches often come with a more practical side.

You should ignore the spiked tires as these renderings were delivered as a holiday message. Still a bit futuristic, especially with the horn-like bars, these Ducati machines can be a good starting point in designing the upcoming generations of electric bikes for Ducati.

Paolo's designs retain the current monocoque attire and are not THAT far out as some other concept bikes we saw until now. And the fact that his idea seems to involve all-wheel-drive makes it even sexier. Maybe the future we've been talking about is not so distant...
