Idiot Runs Down Emus With His Car in Australian Outback

There’s stupid, and then there’s this. One driver, whose identity has yet to be established, filmed himself running over at least half a dozen emus with his car, and posted the sickening footage to social media.

The date and exact location of the video is unknown, but it happened in the Australian outback. The man is doing about 75mph and is heard at the beginning of the video say “f**k emus,” the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Then, as he approaches the mob of birds, he starts running them over, laughing hysterically as he keeps count of how many he’s hit. Of the 13 or so birds seen throughout the video, he hits about half a dozen – with some reports saying he may have ran over 10 of them.

Clearly thrilled with what he’s done, at the end of the video, the man turns the camera on himself, letting out another laugh and a satisfied “Yeaaah!” According to the publication, the video popped up online the other day and has been shared around on social media thousands of times.

That last frame might help to identify the man, and the RSPCA is counting on it. For the time being, police are helpless because they have no jurisdiction for the alleged crime, so identifying the man is of paramount importance.

The RSPCA wants him brought to justice and they’re hoping the public will help with that.

“Our inspectors are currently examining the footage to try and determine when and where it was filmed. The video also shows the man’s face, and the RSPCA are asking for help to identify him,” a spokesperson tells the publication.

“The RSPCA unequivocally condemns this type of behavior, as it clearly shows a disregard for the lives of these vulnerable native animals, and raises grave concerns about this individual’s capacity for such behavior,” the statement continues.

So far, no word on who the driver is, but trust in the power of social media.
