The man who became the latest viral star to cause controversy online, after taunting a bison on a congested road at Yellowstone National Park, has been arrested.
And color us surprised (no, not really), but it turns out that he was drunk when he decided to step out of his car stuck in traffic, so he could try and provoke the bison to a fight. He was arrested and is awaiting trial, the NY Times reports.

The bison incident was the third incident in a national park in less than a week for 55-year-old Raymond Reinke, the publication notes. After that, he traveled another 300 miles and was eventually placed in handcuffs at Glacier National Park, after causing even more trouble.

He had already been arrested and cited for drunken behavior, and just minutes before he pulled the incredibly stupid (and illegal) bison stunt, he’d been pulled over by rangers for not wearing a seatbelt. They noticed he smelled of alcohol and had an open container in his car, so they ticketed him and urged him to get off the road.

He did. To taunt the bison and nearly get himself killed.

When rangers at Glacier were called for a disturbance at one of the park’s hotels, they didn’t know that the man who had been picking fights with guests and causing a commotion was the idiot in the bison video. They only made the connection later, so he was arrested and placed in custody without bond.

He will remain in prison until his next hearing, and is facing a slew of charges, from drunk-driving related offenses to disturbing wildlife and reckless behavior.

“In addition to disturbing wildlife, Mr. Reinke faces several other charges, including being intoxicated to a degree that endangers himself or others, unreasonable noise and keeping an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, according to court documents,” the publication says.
