I Say Don’t Trust Celebrities when Choosing Your Car and Here’s Why

We see them on billboards, television commercials, in magazines, talk shows, comedy series, videoclips and basically everywhere. Whether they are singers, dancers, actors, hit makers or new comers, us, regular people have the tendency to turn them into some sort of an example sometimes. Yet, here I am telling you people celebrities are not to be trusted when it comes to getting some auto inspiration.
Since most of us have this weird belief that actors know more than musicians, let’s first look into this category.

Have you ever heard of the term “child actor or child actress”? Of course you did and of course you know what it means. That is also why you are most likely accustomed to the idea that a good part of the Hollywood celebrities currently making the big money on the big screens were in fact raised on the idea they will follow this path from the begining. It was never about “what if”, rather about “when” with some of these folks.

There are two notable child actors that simply couldn’t keep their hands on the wheel and lost control at some point of their growing-up time. Lindsay Lohan is one of these two famous-for-screwing-up actors. With a meteoric rise as a child involving roles in The Parent Trap and Life Size, Lohan started her career at age three and made her acting debut in 1996. The rest of her acting as a kid you already know about.

However, as she would grow up Lohan ran into much trouble with the law including several DUI controversies, some theft charges and whatnot. Things sort of seemed to have turned to the right path in more recent years.

With the Home Alone child actor things were even worse, hence Macaulay Culkin had drug problems and issues with the laws on several occasions.

Some made it quite good

Sure, not all of the actors have faced the same problems, with famous Hollywood stars like Mickey Rooney making it quite big. If you ask me, The Boxer was the movie that proved he was as talented being an adult actor as he was as a kid in the popular 1935 movie A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The line of youngsters who made it big as adults too is quite impressive and there is no need to go through it now.

Actors don't really decide much

Our point is that most of the actors, whether they did or not start their careers from a young age, are surrounded by people that make decisions in their place. "Advisers" they call them and they will advise when it comes to choosing the cars they drive everyday.

Hey, we already told you guys how some of these folks pose in eco-conscious activists, but drive big petrol-munchers in their real lives.

Are you really up to trusting their taste in cars when most of them usually opt between expensive and big or luxurious and green? We’re not.

Yet the second category is far better than the first. Better as in worse, that is. We are referring to singers, of course.

First group: pop singers. Let's take the very famous Miley Cyrus, who drives a Maserati Quattroporte on a daily basis. She likes it so much that the Wrecking Ball artist had it taken from her and later returned police. Sure, you’ll say robberies are not something you can prevent. How can you explain all the car collection rappers keep safe then?

Oh, and she also has a Black Porsche Cayenne GTS. Nice ride, right? Well, guess what she uses it for. Walking her dog...

Then there’s Justin Bieber. The Canadian pop star usually poses next to whatever will make him look good. He took a picture next to Floyd Mayweather’s Bugatti Veyron making his fans believe it’s his. It later proved it belongs to the five-division fighter insted. He did a similar thing with this private jet which later turned out to be a rental.

The Baby, Baby singer is not even such a good driver, since he crashed his Ferrari and managed to get in some paparazzi-chasing/auto accidents disputes every month or so.

Second group: rappers. On this category we could spend hours if not days writing. Long story short, 90% of the lyrics-spitting artists drive whatever out-flashes their competitors. If one shoots a video driving a Ferrari, the next day another will have two Ferraris. Two Lambos are always better than one. Bugatti is worth writing songs after and Maybach is cool because they (used to) not produce them anymore.

Off-roaders are cool too, but only if they are luxurious and expensive enough they become incapable of any 4x4 adventure anymore. SUVs need to be black and filled with custom features. One thing remains the same whatever the case: the bigger they make them, the better they are.

We’re not naming any automakers here, but unfortunately there’s a particular brand that people identify by its Spirit of Ecstasy. It used to be the gentlemen’s rare limousine only the best would ride in, but it’s rather identified as a rapper’s car nowadays. Sure, there are other brands too, but you get the point.

And we haven't even gotten into discussing all of the DUI and reckless driving charges celebrities get almost every week.

Hate us for saying it, but if you’re really about to spend you’re life long savings, if you’re really up to putting that mortgage on the family’s house, at least make sure you take the right decision. When you decided you’ll buy that dream car, did it ever refer to you it might be the result of simple product placement, instead of being an actual choice?
