It seems that these days, everybody wants a piece of BMW action. Nobody wants to match Audi for safety or Mercedes for luxury, every newcomer to the game wants Bavarian handling, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing either.
After Cadillac’s ATS comes Hyundai with the promise to deliver a rival for the 3-Series. According to Autonews, this will arrive as early as next year. This new RWD sports sedan will be branded as a Genesis model and will build on the platform of the Genesis Coupe, adding a pair of extra doors.

For the 2014 model year, Hyundai will also refresh the Equus flagship sedan, which underpins the Kia K9, or Quoris.

Despite the refresh for the 2013 model year, the Genesis Coupe has not managed to set any new performance benchmarks, so it’s going to be a tough challenge for the Hyundai, who has a private test track in Korea.
