Getting straight to the point, this features a turbocharged 1.6-liter Gamma turbocharged engine with twin-scroll turbocharging and direct injection, good for 150 kW and 265 Nm of torque. That means Australia is getting the same 201 hp output as the US model, not the feeble European one. Also, this represents a 40% increase in horsepower and a 60% increase in torque over the standard Veloster.

In Australia, the version equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox sells for AUD $31,990, while the one with the six-speed auto will set you back AUD $33,990.

All models come standard with twin exhaust tips, a set of 18-inch wheels with chrome inserts, bigger brakes, stiffer dampers and a full body kit. Inside, it’s equally well equipped, being fitted with a 7-inch LCD navigation and infotainment, a panoramic roof, daytime running lights, leather seats and let’s never forget this is the first Hyundai ever to be offered with matte gray paint.
