Hyundai Teases Veloster Ahead of Detroit Debut

The world is only weeks away from welcoming a new member of the hatch-coupe segment. We are talking about the Hyundai Veloster, which will make its world debut at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show. Hyundai knows that this is an eagerly anticipated model and has decided to take advantage of the situation. The automotive producer has just released a teaser of the Veloster. While the anticipation turns to mental pain, the image also acts as a painkiller, allowing us to see that the vehicle has kept the concept’s interesting front end design. The Veloster will come with an unusual 2+1 door layout: the driver’s side will offer a generously-sized door, while the passenger’s side will come with two doors, allowing easy access to the rear seats. However, the car won’t just be a pretty face, as it will come with modern engines that offer a high level of efficiency. Its entry-level version will use a naturally aspirated 1.6 liter direct-injected petrol unit that delivers 140. Thrill-seekers will be able to choose a turbocharged incarnation of the unit ,which will allow them to play with 200 hp, placing the vehicle in the hot hatch segment. Customers will also be able to choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
