Hyundai Shows Off i30 SR Concept in Australia

Hyundai of Australia have just revealed a special concept version of the i30, which is based on the Elite trim level. It is reportedly a virtually production-ready car, which will be launched next year as a more potent alternative to the 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter powered cars they offer now.

Borrowing the 2.0-liter petrol engine from the larger i40, it will put out 174 hp, and have a peak torque of 213 Nm (157 lb-ft). The engine is not the only thing to be touched for the new car, as it the SR will also get a special and more aggressive grille design, new 17-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, a rear diffuser and racy red inserts on the interior.

The production version of this will make its debut next year, and it will definitely provide a decent performance nudge, for an otherwise ordinary car (in terms of the engines on offer). It will also boost the sporty credentials of the entire range - a fact which is probably well-known by Hyundai, and they are probably counting on it.
