Hyundai Santa Fe Facelift Revealed

Hyundai has just rolled out the first photos with the European version of the facelifted Santa Fe which will also be displayed at the Frankfurt Auto Show this week. The car will go on sale in Europe next year, but it is already available for consumers living in South Korea, Hyundai's domestic market. As you can see for yourselves in the adjacent photos, the car features a bunch of exterior enhancements, including new bumpers, reshaped front grille, new front fog lights and redesigned head and taillights. Twin exhaust pipes also appear in the picture, contributing to a more sporty appearance. Inside, the car boasts a new instrument panel, a navigation system and a rear view camera available as an option. There will be several engine configurations available, powered by either gasoline or diesel. There's is a new 2.2-liter CRDi turbo unit that produces 197 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque between 1,800 and 2,500 rpm. The unit is mated to 6-speed manual transmission and helps the car run from 0 to sixty in 9.5 seconds, while topping at 190 km/h. Fuel consumption has been improved as well, with this particular configuration burning 6.6 liters of fuel every 100 km (35.6 mpg) and releasing 174 grams of CO2 per kilometer. A 2.4-liter petrol unit will be available as well, developing 174 horsepower and mated to a manual transmission (a 6-speed automatic gearbox is also offered as an option). This powerplant pushes the Santa Fe from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.7 seconds and helps it achieve a maximum speed of 190 km/h. Fuel consumption is 8.5 l/100km (27.6 mpg) while CO2 emissions go as high as 203 g/km. autoevolution will be attending the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of these vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions.
