The new generation i10 has just recently gone on sale in Britain from about £9000. It's a decent car, but not one that would ever turn heads. It's a different story in India. There, the city car becomes a normal family car, just because most people can't afford anything bigger.
Demand for the i10 has been though the roof since its launch Just two months after the car went on sale there, they have 10,000 orders/month and a long customer waiting list. Heck, it's even won the Car of the Year award. Not surprisingly, Hyundai's Indian venture has decided to capitalize on the hatchback's success and revealed a sedan version as well.
It's called the Xcent, and no, we didn't get the name wrong. The sedan Hyundai makes measures under 4 meters and will be powered by the same 1.1-liter diesel and 1.2-liter petrol engines found in the Grand i10.
Since this is basically a more premium product, the Xcent comes with interesting features, like a stop-start button, air conditioning in the back (on a tiny little car?), alloy wheels, iPhone connectivity and a chilled glovebox.
The recently launched Hyundai Xcent will compete with Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire.
