Hyundai Reports Unprecedented Elantra Sales in North America

The US car and light truck market boomed in November , and two car brand to benefit from this were Hyundai and Kia. As a side not to the fact that the former and the larger of the two managed to top the 600,000 annual sales mark for the first time in its 25 year history on the US market, Hyundai also saw unprecedented demand for the Elantra.
Demand for the compact model jumped a staggering 43 percent in North America from 151,735 deliveries in 2010 to 216,331 this year, setting an all-time record for the model series. This is a clear indication that consumers are increasingly favoring compact sedans instead of mid-size ones.

"[The] Elantra has been an absolute phenomenon in the compact car segment," says John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America President and CEO. "In November, Elantra retail sales were up 37 percent, in spite of significant competition from all-new entries such as the Chevy Cruze, Ford Focus and Honda Civic."

"The Elantra continues to fuel record sales in Canada. The Elantra's Fluidic Sculpture design, advanced safety features and fuel efficiency make it the perfect car in our market,” continued Steve Kelleher, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp.

The South Korean automaker would do well to take advantage of increased demand and offer more variants of the fresh Elantra.
