Hyundai Reports Best-ever May Sales in Australia

Hyundai Motor Company Australia (HMCA) has managed to score itself a bigger slice in the Australian automotive automotive sector, posting a market share of 9.6 percent, its best monthly market share since the company was founded in September 2003. In addition, Hyundai ranked in third position with 7,444 sales, its best-ever May sales result since the Hyundai brand was introduced to Australia in 1986, due to the 16.7 percent increase over the same month of last year.

In passenger car sales, HMCA also ranked third for the month with 5,529 vehicles sold and a market share of 13 percent representing another best-ever result for HMCA.

The ix35 crossover posted its best-ever monthly sales result since launch, with 1,035 vehicles sold, while the i45 also continued its growth achieving a record 555 sales, and Getz held onto the number one position in the light car segment with 1,730 units sold. The compact i30 ranked third in the small car segment posting a sales result of 2,479 units and 13.8 percent market share.

When it comes to people movers, the iMax ranked second in the segment achieving 163 vehicle sales and a market share of 18.3 percent. In the van segment, the iLoad ranked first in the van segment after posting a sales result of 575 units and a market share of 32.4 percent (first in the van segment for the year to date).
