A total of 137,500 units of the Tucson are affected, with the vehicles being built between January 3, 2011 and December 21, 2013. As for the problem itself, the air bag assembly in the steering wheel may have not been properly installed, which can cause it to become loose. The situation could obviously lead to serious injury for the drive in the event of an accident.

The recall is scheduled to debut at the end of July 2014, with Hyundai now starting to notify owners. The automotive producer’s dealers will inspect the crossovers and when they do find a car with problems, will tighten the bolts that keep the airbag assembly in place.

If you happen to own one of the affected Tucsons, you can contact the company at 1-800-633-5151. You should also know that the recall number for this campaign is 118. You can also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) using their Vehicle Safety Hotline - 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
