Hyundai has revealed the first images of its ix20 model, ahead of the vehicle’s Paris debut, allowing us to see both the exterior and the interior of the car. The new creation expands the South Korean automotive producer’s offer, bringing Hyundai into the B-segment MPV class.

The compact people mover is based on the Kia Venga’s platform and is scheduled to enter European markets in November, coming with a price tag of under EUR14,500 ($18,500). The car was designed at the company’s European Research&Development Center in Germany.

The vehicle’s engine range will include two petrol units and a diesel one. The entry-level powerplant will be a 1.4 liter gasoline one developing 89 hp. This will be followed by a 1.6 liter petrol unit that delivers 125 hp, which will only come with an automatic transmission. The diesel engine in the range will have a displacement of 1.4 liters and promises to offer exceptional mpg and CO2 emissions figures. Hyundai will also offer a stop/start system aimed at cutting the vehicle’s emissions.

The ix20 will come with a standard equipment list including an air-conditioning system, ESP, Bluetooth connectivity and others. As for the safety side, the vehicle will be fitted with active and passive features aimed at allowing it to receive a five start EuroNCAP rating.

autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Paris Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
