Hyundai, the official car supplier of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, has given birth to two vehicles that are as close to the football world as a car can be.The two i10s, which have been created by the carmaker’s UK division, are covered in artificial turf and have lines which “any groundsman would be proud”.

The center circle on the roof houses a 1.5 meter tall football and the driver peers through the goal posts on the bonnet.

The vehicles have identical exteriors but their interiors come with different themes: one features a “grass” look that matches the car’s exterior, while the other has a football design inside, using elements such as football headrests.

The i10 football cars will serve as marketing vehicles, as Hyundai will use the vehicles for promotional World Cup events throughout the UK.

The vehicles were transformed from city cars to “football pitch on wheels” by Andy Saunders, an automotive artist that has played a key role in the British custom car scene for many years.

Saunders, who is based in Bournemouth, has collaborated with Hyundai in the past, as he has developed an i10-based ice cream van and an i30 with a hinge in the middle, which was used in the London Motor Show.

Hyundai has always been on the ball, but with the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa just about to kick-off, the ball is on the Hyundai! To mark the sporting spectacle - of which Hyundai is the official car supplier - Hyundai has commissioned two very special i10s to be built,” stated the press release.
