Hyundai is expanding its citycar offering for the UK market with the addition of the Hyundai i10 Blue, a model which promises CO2 emissions below 100 g/Km and competitive pricing. The Korean carmaker has also announced specification and design upgrades for the rest of the line-up.
The Hyundai i10 Blue will go on sale across UK in March, powered by a new engine. The 1.0-liter Kappa unit found under the bonnet replaces the old 1.1-liter Epsilon mill. “This cutting-edge three-cylinder engine achieves a remarkable 67.3mpg combined: the sort of cheap-to-run credentials that will resonate with customers as the cost of motoring continues to rise,” states the official press release.
Thanks to its Euro 5 compliant engine, the i10 Blue emits an impressively low emissions level of 99g/km CO2, so it is eligible to enter the London Congestion Zone free of charge. According to the manufacturer, it is currently the only five-seater model under £10,000 on the UK market to achieve this.
The existing 1.25-liter engine also comes with significant improvements, as it now packs 33 percent more power, with a total output of 85 hp, while emissions and consumption have decreased by 9.2 percent and 8.7 percent respectively, to 108 grams per kilometer and 61.4 mpg UK.
There are currently four trim levels (Blue, Classic, Active and Style) for the i10, with all the usual features, like air conditioning and the addition of an iPod plug-in, being fitted as standard. The equipment list also boasts four airbags, a six-speaker stereo, electric windows and central locking all as standard on all models. Prices start at £8,195 for the entry-level Classic model.
