Hyundai is also on a bit of a roll in Australia, after its i45 sedan and i40 wagon were both successfully launched there. Not only that, but their smaller i30 managed to score the fifth spot overall in the January sales charts.
Now, the i40 sedan will also be added to the lineup within the next few months, according to CarAdvice. Interestingly enough, Hyundai Australia have found a way to create clear differentiation between the bigger i45 and the i40, in the the latter will only be offered with a 1.7-liter diesel engine. This provides 134 hp and 330Nm of torque, just like in the i40 wagon.
The Hyundai i40 sedan was supposed to have “a purely European identity having been designed and engineered at the European R&D headquarters of Hyundai in Russelsheim, Germany.” So the fact that a diesel version is being marketed in Australia proves just how much the market has changed.
Prices for the i40 should start at about $33,000 for the manual Active base model.
