Hyundai i40 Four-Door Coupe Coming

Hyundai is preparing to enter a niche segment of the market, with the company planing to offer a four door coupe version for the upcoming i40 saloon, as autoexpress reports.

The new vehicle, which will be based on the iFlow concept, will bring Hyundai into the premium segment of the market. The main competitor of the future vehicle is considered to be the Volkswagen CC. It seems like the project has already been given the green light by the company’s president.

Hyundai offers to attract customers by making available the four door vehicle at a price that comes bellow that of the CC. However, this doesn’t mean that the vehicle will get any low cost elements.

In addition to that, the Korean automotive producer is working to offer a high level of practicality for the upcoming car, with the main aim being to develop a design that would offer a generous rear headroom.

Hyundai is keen to move into different areas of the market and sell cars that appeal to the heart as well as the head, cars that show more emotion. This could be the model that starts us on that path,” a source within Hyundai’s design team told autoexpress.

The coupe will probably receive the same four cylinder 1.7 liter diesel engine as the i40, with the powerplant offering outputs between 115hp and 140 hp. The vehicle is also expected to receive a 1.6 liter petrol unit that will be matted with a six speed automatic transmission or a manual gearbox.
