Hyundai i30 Reaches 500,000 Units Sold Worldwide

The i30 compact car from Hyundai has passed global sales of 500,000 units, as it continues to enjoy an ascending trend worldwide. The milestone has been reached three years after the commercial launch of the car, in 2007.

The i30 delivers an unbeatable package of class leading features, value and economy,” said Damien Meredith, Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s sales director. “The i30 range continues to win Australian fans, leading its segment for the first time in March,” added the Hyundai official.

Since going on sale in Australia in late 2007, the i30 hatch and i30cw wagon have been sold in over 42,430 units. It was also Australia’s best selling small car in March 2010, selling 3,678 vehicles and gaining a 16.4% market share in its segment.

This week, the Hyundai i30 also received a quality award in the UK, taking first place in the Driver Power Top 100 survey, conducted by the Auto Express magazine. According to this study, the i30 is the most satisfying car to own on the UK market today, beating the 2009 winner, the Jaguar XF. “This is a huge breakthrough for the brand. Over the years, owners have told us how reliable their cars are and what good value they are too. But this is the final proof that they can now match that with real all-round satisfaction,” said Auto Express editor-in-chief David Johns.

The i30 is on offer with two gasoline and two diesel engines: a 1.4-liter of 109 horsepower plus a 1.6-liter of 126 horsepower, respectively a 1.6-liter in two states of tune, 90 and 128 horsepower.
