Hyundai’s Frankfurt offensive should be focused on the new i40 and some of its frugal new engines, but somehow, they’ve managed to sneak a new model in there for good measure. We’re talking about there C-segment fighter, the i30.
Only one photo is available of the exterior and our first impression is of the first truly good looking i30 ever. No longer is it the less fortunate Korean hatch. The biggest changes are at the front, where the grille is somewhat reminiscent of the Honda Insight. The angular, powerful-looking fog lights frame this well, while the new headlight assembly is one of the most interesting in the segment.

The engine range for the 2012 i30 includes two petrols (the 1.6-liter GDI with 140 hp and a 1.4-liter with 100 hp) and two diesel (1.4-liter CRDi good for 90 hp and a 1.6-liter CRDi capable of producing 126 hp). These will all be connected to a 6-speed manual as standard, with the 6-speed auto offered as an option.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
