Hyundai Gets Times Square Billboard

Hyundai decided it’s time to get the big guns out, so they created a competitor for all the Mustangs and the rear wheel drive Nissans out there. The first big step was, of course, building such a car, but they managed to do that in the end. Later, they decided to launch the new Genesis Coupe during the Super Bowl coverage, the most viewed sporting event in the world.

Taking it one step after another, Hyundai just moved its campaign into Times Square in Manhattan, New York. Their add is placed on a huge cub shaped billboard with three display faces. Two sides have vinyl banners, while the main one has LED screens showing Hyundai video content.

"As one of the world's largest brands, Hyundai is actively looking for ways to integrate with the world's biggest advertising venues, such as the Super Bowl, Academy Awards and World Cup," said Chris Perry, director of Marketing Communications, Hyundai Motor America. "Times Square billboards draw 1.5 million impressions daily and it is one of the most iconic locations for outdoor advertising, so it aligns perfectly with our overall brand strategy."

Just in case you did not know, the Genesis Coupe is Hyundai's first rear-wheel drive sports coupe, and shares its basic platform with the Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan. The Genesis Coupe arrived in United States dealerships on February 26, 2009, and was described as being designed "...to deliver a driving experience that challenges cars like Infiniti G37.”

So if you want to go premium, you’ll need some premium advertising, and that’s exactly what the Koreans are doing.
