The Frankfurt Motor Show is currently in full swing and press members such as ourselves are now scouring through the booths to catch the latest models on film. One of the most impressive cars put up for display is, without a doubt, the Hyundai Vision G Concept.
Unveiled for the first time last month in LA at the County Museum of Art, what we have here is, undoubtedly, a potential rival for full-size Coupes such as the S-Class from Mercedes-Benz. Just by the sheer size and luxury of the thing, you can instantly see that’s the real purpose of its presence here.

Designed by the US team of the Korean manufacturer, the Vision G Concept brings an even further push into luxurious grounds after the Genesis made its debut a couple of years back.

The exterior is dominated by a truly impressive long hood that slightly arches as it reaches the front fascia, where a grille that resembles Aston Martin’s trademark design meets the eye. The headlamps have a certain Maserati feel to them and the C-Pillar reminds us of the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Sure, all of this might be subjective, but it’s in no way meant to disrespect the creation of Hyundai’s designers. The simple fact that looking at it gives you the vibe that it’s close to the names above is a high compliment.

Inside the cabin, you’ll be greeted by the best Hyundai has to offer right now, but keeping things as clear and simple as possible. Everything inside is made up of elegant lines and white dominates the atmosphere.

Under the bonnet, there’s a 5-liter V8 Tau engine that is well known from other high-end creations of the Korean manufacturer, with 420 HP and 383 lb-ft (520 Nm) of torque. This is a mill that was praised time and time again in the past, but given its architecture and size, it may not be the best choice in the future, especially considering the stringent CO2 emission laws.

Even so, what Hyundai is proposing here is not to be ignored and, even though Mercedes-Benz has nothing to be afraid of right now, it may be a first, bold step towards a more luxurious future.
